Believe it or not, there are many colonies alive today that won’t be in another month. 😞
Huge bummer, right?
Between warmer days and limited forage, aging winter bees can start consuming more, older queens could be failing, various diseases may overwhelm them, etc.
The point?
Monitor them closely, feed and manage them appropriately, consider minor ventilation and positioning adjustments if mold is present, and think about your fall treatments and winter prep.
With the extended warm temperatures we experienced, pest control efforts may have been foiled, various pathogens may have been exacerbated, and resource consumption may have been higher than expected increasing risk of starvation.
Still super confident? You can pre order queens for splits at BeeResQ.com !!! :-)
